Need to Know: Homebuying in the Fall!

Summer has ended and perhaps you still haven’t purchased a home as you planned! Now fall is here and you feel as though it’s just too late because the peak real estate season has passed.

Fall is just not the time to buy a home…or is it?! In a recent article by Trulia, we learned that now could now be the ideal season for buying a home. Here’s why you should buy your new home this fall!

    Less Competition

Since summer and spring are past, there are still homes left on the market and new inventory emerging from the fall. This means there are lots of properties on the market with much less competition because there are fewer people shopping for homes. This also makes it a great time for negotiation, because sellers are more eager to negotiate and make a deal.

    Sellers are Eager to Sell

Many of the sellers may be leftover from the spring and summer months and are exhausted from months of their home being on the market for so long. These sellers are also more apt to sell at a lower price given that they may have overpriced their home when they initially listed it. This means you are more likely to find a great deal on your dream home!

    Tax Breaks

Any payments that are made prior to closing on a home are tax deductible, which can greatly reduce the amount of money you owe at the end of the year. Be aware that property tax and mortgage interest are deductions that you can take on your entire annual income. Be sure to take advantage of these tax breaks!

    Take Advantage of the Sales!

Since holiday season is now commencing, so are the sales, especially during the month of November. This means that you can take advantage of these end-of-year sales to deck the halls and deck out your new home with new appliances and must-have items. You can use these sales to assist you on items that will help you to make repairs, make renovations and redecorate.
